In summer 2018, Gulf Islands Waterpark emerged as a pioneer in the waterpark industry by implementing a dynamic pricing strategy to grow online sales. While very few water parks had taken the plunge into dynamic pricing, Mark Moore, General Manager at the park, has never been one to be afraid to try something new. By partnering with Liftopia, Moore’s primary objectives were to move away from traditional couponing to drive rate on best days, and get guests into the park more quickly by increasing the percentage of pre-sold tickets.

After a standout first summer, where online sales grew 21% using Liftopia’s dynamic pricing model and e-commerce platform, Cloud Store, Mark geared up for a second summer of partnership. In their second season, Gulf Islands used Liftopia’s group ticketing functionality to sell group admission for parties of 20 or more and birthday parties (see below). They also added a “Family 4-Pack”.

So, what happened in year two?

  • Online sales overall grew by 39%
  • Online sales for products offered in both 2018 and 2019 grew by 29%

“Our second year working with Liftopia again proved their expertise in dynamic pricing for businesses like ours,” said Moore. “Liftopia’s team also showed a ton of creativity helping us move birthday parties online, which previously were handled with a paper form. It’s much easier now for our staff and we can capture bookings 24/7.”

Currently Gulf Islands is gearing up for a season pass sale this winter on Cloud Store.
